In six basic steps I'll tell you how to create and submit a Google Sitemap to Google Sitemap Section of Webmaster Area.

Google Sitemap is normally used to pace up the discovery of your pages, which is an important part while in crawling and indexing your pages, but there are many other factors that control the crawling/indexing processes.

You must have your Google Webmaster tools Account

Before creating a sitemap you have to first look at your gmail account. If you already have a gmail account then it is quite easy to get early subscription on Google webmaster tools account. And if you don’t have a gmail account, then you can create it athttp://www.google.com/accounts. After making your account at gmail you will probably be looking for the webmaster tools account.

What is a Google webmaster tools account and how to create one?

Your Google webmaster tools account gives information about your added web sites, sitemaps, updates, and also allows you to add new sitemap for crawling by Google. I told you before that Google account or gmail account is an important step to get subscription at google webmaster tools account. You can use a gmail account to get logging athttp://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview . Now you are ready to create a sitemap on google.com. To get started, simply add your site to your google webmaster tools account. I’ll tell you in the next few steps how to integrate your website with google webmaster tools account.

How to create Sitemap Files (Method -1)

There are many services providing free sitemap generation tools which can help you to create one sitemap within a few seconds. But be aware, some web sites owners are given their free online services is just because to hack your web site. I’d recommend you to usehttp://www.xml-sitemaps.com/, whenever I required a sitemap for my clients I use xml-sitemaps to get better results and safe than others. Now you have a new pop-ups window of the website, on the xml-sitemaps you will a URL field, enter your desired URL in the field and then go for some setting:
  • Enter the URL in URL Field
  • Select “Daily” from Drop Down Menu (Change Frequency)
  • Check “Use Server Response” from the given radio button (Last Modification)
  • Let the field priority as it is (0.5)
  • Click the button Starting.
The process in which generator creating a sitemap files will normally takes a few minutes to be finished. Wait until it is finished. After ending up the process you will get different links for downloading. These downloading links have complete list of URLs of the given website. Select one of the links and save it on your hard-disk. After getting the XML, ROR or any downloaded sitemap file, you will be able to get started on sitemap submission process. I’d like to recommend you to download XML sitemap file, as Google always in the vein of XML sitemaps due to their flexibility. First you have to upload the sitemap file in your “root directory” of your website using server side. And then use your Google Webmaster Tools Account to Submit your sitemap in sitemap section. Google automatically get the sitemap file while visiting your website and updates it to its cache. Now the second method is to get Google webmaster tools account to manually submit your sitemap on Google.

What Information is available in your webmaster tools account? How to submit Sitemap on Google (Method – II)

Once you have logged-in, you will find subsequent information available in your account:
Add a site: once you accessed to the account, you will certainly see a new window. There you will find a field (add a site here), type in there your site complete address (****wwwww.xxxxxxx.com***) carefully and then submit it for the next step i.e. website owner’s verification.
Verification: Google sitemap requires website owner’s verification. Verification step needs a complete attention, as the risk could be there. So be careful while verifying your website. Click on “verify your site”. It will take you to the next step wherein you will find verifying status of your website that indicates “NOT VERIFIED”. By verifying your site you can access comprehensive statistics and crawl errors about the pages in your site. Look at the drop down menu “Choosing your verification method”. You will probably found two real methods of verification one that you must enter Meta Tags in your html to verify your website, normally we put the given Meta Tags code within the body text area of the index.html page or you can either upload an HTML file with a name they specified. It is very necessary to upload the given html file on your root directory of the website. Once you upload the file Google automatically verify it by visiting your website. E.g. *****wwwwwww.xxxxxxx.com/h49d93894.html***** your file should look like the above specified URL and then click the verify button to get quickly verification.

What you will get after the verification process?

Once you verify that you're the site owner, they will provide you with complete statistics and error information about the pages in your site. If you're unable to verify, you can still use the webmaster tools, submit Sitemaps, and see detailed information about those Sitemaps as well as basic information about your site. Moreover, you will get crawling, indexing, status of robots.txt file analysis, etc. in your Google Webmaster Tools Account.

And If your site is verified, you can view:

• Advanced indexing information about your site
• Query stats about your site
• Crawl stats about your site
• Page analysis of your site
• URLs from your site we were unable to crawl, and why we couldn't crawl them

Final Step to Submit a Sitemap

Now you are able to submit your sitemap on Google by using your Google Webmaster Tools account. Click the “Sitemap” Tag. You will see a new window in which you can find “Add a Sitemap” click on that and upload the XML sitemap file and then click the OK button to submit your sitemap successfully. After a few hours you will see the Google has successfully submitted your website for crawling and indexing.
Congratulation you are done!

Hope the above information is enough to describe how to submit a sitemap on Google.
